"Spring Lake Park District 16 is committed to working collaboratively with parents and community in providing a high quality ESL program which accelerates English language proficiency, while validating a student's native language and culture, to promote linguistic, academic, social, and cultural success in a diverse society."
Assumption and Beliefs that Guide Our Work
The English Learner program exists under the philsophy that all students can learn, and that the presence of language minority children and bilingualism in the school population is not a handicap, but an asset. The English Learner program operates under the assumption that language minority children must be provided the same challenging content and skills that are required of all children, and the end result will be the graduation of bilingual students who are competent and prepared for higher education and the global market place.
